Firsts

This is the first post on my daughter's blog. Hopefully some day soon she will take over telling her story. Right now she's just learning to read much less write. The thing is she just had a mile stone that needed to be the first post. For Christmas Santa bought her a little kids Singer sewing machine. It was just beneath her ability levels and wouldn't have worked out so we went to the Singer store to see what they had. She chose this beautiful 1965 aqua colored model for $60. I offered her mine and I would up grade, but she just loved this machine. She took to it immediately and impressed the shop owner with her skills. See A is 5yo.

A couple summers ago I refinished an antique dresser for A to use as a desk in my craft room. Well wouldn't you know that the vintage sewing machine found an immediate home on that desk. Right in front of the A her grandmother painted on it for her.

Of course A had to use her new toy immediately. She found some scrap fleece I had in the room and started making doll pillows. She made four of them that first night with minimal help.

So as you see this had to be the first post because it is her first craft on her new sewing machine. I'm sure there will be many creations to come. (notice the antique chair I refinished and recovered for her too)
